You’ll have to determine what the right reactivity setting is for the type of ground you’re hunting and adjust your sweep speed to improve detection. Lower reactivity encourages a slower swing rate and you’ll increase depth detection, but you may miss out on good targets that can be adjacent to ferrous objects. High speed is usually recommended to provide faster recovery of signal analysis and improved target separation when ferrous objects could mask good objects, but you may compromise depth detection. The time it takes for the detector to recover when passing over a ferrous object is called recovery speed.

Hand in hand with threshold comes reactivity. It also helps to differentiate between ferrous and non-ferrous targets by producing a “nulling” effect over ferrous objects which is essentially a silent or dip in tone. It allows for detection of faint and weak signals from very small or deep targets that would otherwise be missed because they couldn’t “jump” the threshold. Adjusting the threshold allows a user to change the amount of “hum” they hear when detecting. Many expert level detectorists use this as a point of reference for the type of ground conditions they’re hunting in.

The XP ORX is an entirely wireless gold detector with a patented wireless connection to the search coil. They do not go over your head like typical headphones but around the back of the neck, which makes the WS Audio Headphones ideal for detecting with a cap or beanie. The XP WS Audio Headphones are lightweight and super comfortable due to the back of the neck design.

The XP WS Audio Wireless Headphones aka Backphones provide loud and clear audio making it easy to hear those faint signals when prospecting for gold nuggets in Africa. The HF coil technology enables stable detection on difficult terrain or even under high voltage lines with extreme sensitivity for small targets such as gold. The XP ORX, as a result, has exceptionally high detection rates, even in previously hunted out areas. The fast response times guarantee optimal separation of targets in iron-contaminated soils, such as can be found in old settlements. See Available Options further up the page. There is also the option to include the XP WS Audio Wireless Headphones.

It is also compatible with XPs other X35 range of coils which can be bought as extras. The XP ORX Gold Detector is highly sensitive to even the smallest targets like gold flakes and nuggets as well as coins and relics. The XP Orx comes as standard with a remote control box and a choice of two coils, either the 9' Round X35 coil or the 9.5 x 5' Elliptical HF Coil. Thanks to its braces on the upper part of the frame and the middle frame made of aviation high-tech aluminium, the ORX is at the same time extremely robust. With its sensational only weighing 770g, the ORX is a lightweight and currently the lightest detector on the detector market.

The user interface is very tidy, clearly arranged and logical, making it very intuitive and user-friendly. The designers of the XP ORX Gold Detector focused on simple operation, high search performance and extremely light with very low weight. The XP ORX Gold Detector built on the same DNA of its big brother the highly regarded XP DEUS Metal Detector. The XP ORX Gold Detector with Wireless Headphones is a high-performance gold prospecting metal detector that is super sensitive to small gold nuggets and flakes as found in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Africa.
